Casale Camuglia celebrates agricultural tradition and peasant culture, offering a journey through time and taste with unique food and wine experiences in the heart of Etna.
In the territory between Etna, the Alcantara Valley, and the Nebrodi Mountains, in the countryside of Castiglione di Sicilia, in Contrada Zottorinotto, lies Casale Camuglia, an ancient rural building dating back to the 19th century. The Casale, a symbol of the traditional architectural heritage of the Etna region, houses an ancient wine press and a cellar, a testament to the lives of the farmers of Etna who knew how to enhance their land and the products it offered. The Camuglia family, through a conservative restoration and recovery intervention, made possible also thanks to funding obtained through the PNRR from the European Union, has sought to advance the idea of recovery understood as knowledge, preservation, enjoyment, and promotion of the traditional architectural heritage of the Etna region.

The Millstone Museum
The wine press, built in the late 1800s, is itself an example of rural Etnean architecture, a testament to the ancient activities of the peasant agricultural tradition and the importance given to wine production and the winemaking process. Between the ’stone track“ and the tanks used for fermentation, you will be able to admire an exhibition of ancient farming tools from the peasant tradition, including wooden barrels used for aging and storing wine.
